I was visiting my friend, Nancy’s website and she posted this great article about dressing for your body type. I wanted to pass it on for my readers to enjoy. Here you go:
Dressing for Your Body Type. Do You Know Yours?
The way to look your best is to dress for your body type. There are only 2 types: an apple or a pear. Even when you gain or lose weight, you will always keep your type. Learning what you type is and how to dress for it can make you happier, dress easier, and feel less stressed!
Apple body: An apple carries your weight in the upper 1/2 of your body and you have thinner legs. By keeping your legs looking thin in slim pants or jeans can help you look pounds thinner. Consider wearing tops that are fitted but not tight. One trick for tops is to wear a cardigan or jacket over your tank or tee. Sometimes apples think they will look thinner if they wear fuller tops, but actually you can look heavier. Try on things in both of these categories and you will see the difference. The thin leg pants is the key. Wearing a column-of-color (same color head to toe) is also a slimming look for apples. Then add another color for a jacket or sweater. Black tops are a very slimming look. Wear a black under top everyday if you want. That will keep your apple shape slimmer. Apples look good in slim skirts. Sometimes a slim skirt needs to be wedged slimmer at the knee to look best. Trust your store where you shop about this, or have a good alteration person to help.
Pear body: A pear is thinner in the upper 1/2 of your body and has fuller hips. Keep your top 1/2 fitted and wear fuller leg pants. They need to fit, but not be too tight. A flare leg in the pant helps even out your hips. Sometimes pears think they need to try to “hide” their hips with longer tops. When actually you can look leaner by wearing tops that come to the hips instead of longer. A skirt shape that is good for a pear is fit-and-flare. That means it is fitted in the hip area and flares at the knee. This is a great way to even out your shape.
Whatever your body type, embrace it. Learn to dress for it. The women who look the best know their body type and dress accordingly. When you find your fit that’s best for you, stick with it. Just because a style looks great on your friend, doesn’t mean it is right for you. When you look good, you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you look good. Find your sense of style!

I love scarfs! They’re a fabulous and easy accessory to dress up any look. I’m always looking for new ways to wear a good scarf. I visited Nancy’s and found a TON of gorgeous scarfs – and inspiration for ways to wear them.
Can you believe it – Mother’s Day is this Sunday! It seemed to sneak up on us this year.
I’m so glad to represent a shopping mall that loves its female shoppers. Many merchants will be handing out flowers to mothers this weekend. They’ll also be holding Mother’s Day specials, giveaways, and more. This weekend, take your mom shopping, get her a flower, pick up a present she’ll love, and treat her to lunch.
Mom will love a girls day out shopping, dining, and getting pampered. So get the girls together! If you have a young mom in your life, she’ll jump at the chance to get some relaxing shopping time alone. Take the kids for an afternoon and let her stroll the delightful shops at Northpark. If you’re looking for the perfect gift instead, you’ll find it fast at Northpark. Our merchants pride themselves on offering unique and timeless items that mom will love.
You can be sure she’ll love whatever you decide to do this year to tell her “thank you.”
Happy Mother’s Day!
I just have to send some love to Cherry Berry. Yesterday I stopped in for a delicious serving of pomegranate frozen yogurt with blueberries and strawberries – it was pure refreshing perfection.
Their weekly specials are fantastic. Tuesdays are “Logo Tuesdays” – wear any CherryBerry logo and get 3oz free. If you check-in through Facebook, you can get 3oz free. And moms, drop in on Mondays and get a free 3oz for your child under 5 with a purchase of a frozen yogurt for yourself. They also frequently post specials on their Facebook page found here. And, I have to mention that they have some pretty tasty coffee from Tassimo. It’s perfect on colder mornings at the mall.
CherryBerry’s frozen yogurt is out of this world and the atmosphere has a very cool vibe. When you stop in, take a moment to chat with the staff and the proprietors who really just love serving “The Best Frozen Yogurt on the Planet.”
